ENEOS On The Road: Visiting West Miramar Automotive & Transmission in San Diego
As part of the ENEOS On The Road program, ENEOS is hitting the pavement with ENEOS ambassador Faruk Kugay to connect with the independent repair shops that keep drivers moving every day. One recent stop brought us to West Miramar Automotive and Transmission in the San Diego area—part of the well-established West Automotive Group, a family of shops that has been serving customers for more than 20 years. Opened seven years ago, the West Miramar location reflects the group’s commitment to modern service, customer convenience, and technical excellence.
During our visit, we spoke with Troy, a frontline mechanic who has been with the shop for five years. What immediately stands out about West Miramar Automotive is how intentionally the shop is designed around the customer experience. Unlike many smaller independent shops, they offer a courtesy vehicle, allowing customers to drop off their cars during the weekday service hours and stay mobile without relying on rideshares. It’s a simple idea, but one that makes a meaningful difference for busy customers—and speaks volumes about how the West Automotive Group prioritizes service beyond the repair itself.
From a technical standpoint, West Miramar Automotive and Transmission is equally impressive. As Troy put it, this is a “top-tier independent shop,” capable of working on everything from older vehicles to the latest models, including trucks and diesels.
Founded nine years ago, West Kearny Mesa has become a family-established, community-focused shop known for its full-service approach. As technician Carlo shared, “We’re a one-stop shop. We diagnose, repair, and service everything from engine issues to complex transmission work.”
That “one-stop shop” mindset extends beyond the service bay. Backed by owner Brian Bowersock, the West Automotive Group is well known throughout San Diego for its visible presence and trusted reputation. “Brian’s really involved with the people,” Carlo explained. “He’s always advertising—you’ll see him on billboards, buses, the whole nine yards. He keeps us busy and focused on serving our community.”
