ENEOS Featured Shop: RPM Off-Road Garage

RPM Garage was established in 2009 by Steve Lam. Prior to this he was working for an aftermarket parts manufacturer specializing in sport compact performance. He decided to accept the challenge of operating his own service facility; one he used to frequent as a customer.

The economy took a turn for the worse during that time frame, but in 2011 Steve purchased his first Land Cruiser to enjoy light trail use and overlanding. He started modifying the truck with the help of friends, and soon realized his friends needed help fixing up theirs, which led RPM into new territory; modifying and servicing trucks for enthusiasts.

“Once social media started taking off, people took notice of where they were taking their trucks for repairs and modifications,”
Steve said.
“This is how we gained traction in the off-road space and added the RPM Off-Road Garage division.”

The off-road scene in Southern California (and consequently around the nation) exploded in 2015, by which time Steve and the RPM team were well established as truck and overlanding experts. “It gave us a huge boost to be in this niche, and allowed us to grow more,” he said.

Even with the global pandemic, RPM Off-Road Garage remained strong as business grew by 40-percent. Since then, appointments have been booked well in advance, requiring Steve to relocate the shop to a larger facility nearby.

“I’ve always been a fan of modifying since the late ’90s with Hondas,” Steve explained. “My dream was to own a shop, and now I’m doing exactly what I love. Even though we primarily work on trucks, we still service cars and will always welcome whatever projects customers have for us.”

While aftermarket mods make up a decent chunk of their workload, the majority of customers bring their old school trucks, which require RPM’s expertise to rejuvenate the older vehicles.

ENEOS is excited to have partnered with RPM Off-Road Garage since 2022, with Steve offering our line of high-performance synthetic oils to help preserve and properly maintain their customer’s classic Japanese trucks, including the highly coveted Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Tacoma, and other modern truck/SUV models available in the Toyota/Lexus lineup. He’s also done a great job of highlighting ENEOS lubricants in fun ways on social media, helping to familiarize his customers with the brand.

“I’ve known about ENEOS ever since I built Hondas and Nissans back in the day, so it’s exciting to work with them and support their oil products. We also try to educate our customers about the performance and protection benefits ENEOS provides,” Steve added.
